Since 2012, James has been building a relationship with the Muslim community in Seattle. This quest has resulted in the creation of The Al-Ma'idah Initiative.

At Al-Ma’idah James focuses on researching, understanding and communicating the foundational ideas in the Bible and the Muslim world.

The goal of all this is building friendly and substantial conversations between Christians and Muslims.

Jim Overmyer

Jim makes sure all of our programs and processes run smoothly, making sure that the Al-Ma’idah pirate ship doesn’t have any leaks.

 

Aybars Uckun

Development Director

Aybars was born in Turkey, to an Afghan father and Turkish mother. After leaving Turkey, he grew up in a harsh, far off land whose native inhabitants refer to it as ‘New Jersey’.
Aybars served as a Messianic Rabbi for 15 years, but felt compelled to serve his own people after watching the fall of Kabul in 2021.
Aybars is in charge of developing our partnerships with churches in Seattle and around the world.

 

Sharjeel Khan

Sharjeel was born in Pakistan and speaks Urdu, Pashto, Arabic and English, he is an expert on Muslim cultures, well versed in the Qur’an and the Hadith and uses this skill set to help us as we write content and interact with people.

Sofia Ayala

Communications Manager

Sofia started as an intern, now helps write and edit our content and is currently overseeing the translation of our content to 4 different languages.

Mansour Khajehpour

Board Member

Mansour was born in Mashhad, Iran where he served as a pastor, faced persecution from the government there and now is a pastor of a church in Lake Stevens, WA. Mansour offers us wisdom and guidance in interacting with Middle Eastern cultures.

 

Marco Ribeiro

Board Member

Marco has been legally and correctly recognized by the U.S. Government as an “Exceptional Person”. He is a pastor of a church in Downtown Seattle.
